The faculty of the Department of Anthropology stands in solidarity with GEO and with our graduate students. Our graduate students are a vital part of the research, teaching and community service missions of this institution. As instructors they inspire, engage and support our undergraduate community. As researchers they collaborate on and produce cutting edge work that pushes our fields of study. As employees of the University of Illinois they are vital to the public mission of this institution to serve the citizens of this state and our broad and diverse student body.

Our graduate students deserve a living wage, healthcare, tuition waivers and fair hiring procedures and practices. The work they do keeps this institution running and keeps our scholarly goal of excellence on track. Short-changing our graduate employees short-changes every member of this community and compromises the great work all our staff, faculty and students do here at Illinois.
