On Friday, August 19, LAS LIFTOFF '22, the inaugural event for all LAS first-year students took place in Krannert Center for the Performing Arts! More than 3,000 students from across the US and the world were introduced to LAS and its departments, received gifts and played games.
Anthropology and Head of Department Brenda Farnell could not miss the event and once again, its table had the privilege of special representation from the Anthro Club, our students' organization! Brooke Blaszynski, Sara Kiel, Shyann Macc, Jocelyn Rubi, Sofia Rossetti, and Abril Stoddard interacted with first-year students and increased their outreach to the UofI community. They answered questions about their path in anthropology, their career goals and aspirations, and reflected on the nature of anthropological inquiry.
