Biological Anthropology

Biography

I am pursuing a PhD in Biological Anthropology at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (UIUC). Prior to UIUC, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVetMed) from Makerere University in Uganda and a Masters of Science in International Animal Health (MSc-IAH) from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. My research focusses on deciphering the ecology of zoonotic diseases of humans and nonhuman primates through host microbial surveillance, metagenomics and the associated ecoimmunology.

Research Interests

Comparative host microbial diversity and ecoimmunology

Ecology of zoonotic diseases and transmission dynamics

Ontogeny of antimicrobial resistance and distribution

Behavioral endocrinology and evolutionary thanatology
