Graduate Anthropology Student Association

GASA Description

The purpose of the Graduate Anthropology Student Association (GASA) is to (1) foster good working, mentor, and support relationships amongst the anthropology graduate students at UIUC; (2) to provide professionalization and networking skill and opportunities; (3) sponsor guest lecturers and department talks; (4) facilitate cooperative endeavors between anthropology graduate students and faculty; (5) promote educational opportunities involving the wide range of anthropology topics graduate students
study at UIUC.

Programming: 2024 - 2025 Academic Year

During the 2024 - 2025 academic year, GASA has tentatively planned the following events: 

  • Semesterly game night
  • Department Fall Picnic 
  • Brown Bag Lectures led by ANTH Graduate students
  • Spring Symposium led by ANTH Graduate students
  • ANTH Graduate Research Retreat

In the past, GASA has offered workshops on time management by the Graduate College, alt-ac job market preparation by the Graduate College Career Development Services, a publication workshop led by the UIUC Writer's Workshop, organized the fall picnic, and more.
