On Thursday, March 5, Department of Anthropology faculty, students and friends gathered at the Author's Corner of the Illini Bookstore for a very special event: the collaborative celebration of faculty book achievements.

Professor Brenda M Farnell, Head of Department, introduced a stunning number of fifteen books and set the tone, by offering a number of common questions, such as the motivation behind writing a book, publishing challenges, especially relative to career stages, but also the theoretical and practical relevance of these books to contemporary reader audiences.

Assistant Professor Jeff Martin, who had organized the event, facilitated the discussion as he, along our distinguished authors, Professor Faye V Harrison, Professor Virginia Rosa Dominguez, Assistant Professor Jessica F Brinkworth, Associate Professor Jessica R Greenberg, Professor Andrew Orta, and Professor Brenda M Farnell took turns answering the questions set to them.

The event concluded with eager questions from graduate students about authoring and publishing, an enthusiastic acknowledgment of the research accomplishments from members of the department and a commitment to make such celebrations an annual tradition.
